Clive – Duty Manager Airside
“For me, the best thing about my job is not knowing what the next phone call or email will be about. It could be about an airline about to go bankrupt, or the police advising about an issue with a particular plane. One minute it could be an urgent call, the next it could involve a Royal visit.
“I have a degree in Travel & Tourism and have always been fascinated by the travel industry. Here I’m right in the thick of it, the UK’s only hub airport, internationally renowned, seeing through up to 250,000 passengers a day during the Olympics. Incredible.
“When I applied for this role I didn’t expect to get it because I didn’t think I’d been here long enough. When I did, the learning curve about airfield operations was very steep, but the management obviously had confidence in me and there is a fantastic training programme in place.
“At Heathrow you can go anywhere in your career. The sky is the limit. But if you’re happy where you are, that’s OK too.
“There are new opportunities opening up all the time and the place is constantly improving. What can anyone else offer me that’s better?”
