Local environment
Did you know?
Over the next five years we will be investing £4.8 billion in the refurbishment and renewal of Heathrow’s facilities.
Local environment
Every year we set specific, measurable targets which are subject to external audit. We also have other initiatives and plans which we put in place and report on, although these are not monitored externally. In this section you can find out what we will be focusing on in 2008. Listed below are our targets for 2008:
Energy: To reduce Heathrow’s direct impact on carbon dioxide emissions by 3% against the business as usual forecast through improvements in energy efficiency.
Noise: To externally consult, finalise and publish the Heathrow noise action plan by 31st December 2008.
Air quality: Improve Auxillary Power Unit (APU) compliance as measured by turn around audits by 10% from the 2007 baseline of 65%.
Waste: To increase recycling for the general waste handled by the airport waste contract from 37.35% in 2007 to 38% and beyond by 31 December 2008.
Water: Develop and publish the Heathrow Water Resources Action Plan for the period 2009-2013.
