Departure lounge recycling

Our passengers told us that they wanted to be able recycle their rubbish while they were in the airport - rather than just binning it. So during 2007, we put 60 sets of recycling bins into our four terminals. And as a result, we are making sure less waste from the airport ends up in landfills.

The new bins allow passengers to separate their waste into paper, plastics and cans, and general rubbish. We expect to recycle over 100 tonnes of departure lounge waste that might otherwise have gone to landfill.

The new recycling units give passengers the opportunity directly to influence our waste performance for the first time.
