Community investment
Did you know?
Over the next five years we will be investing £4.8 billion in the refurbishment and renewal of Heathrow’s facilities.
Community investment
We will continue to focus on supporting initiatives that make a positive difference to local communities under the following four strategies:
- Education and skills – build existing and future workforce through vocational training and skills programmes
- Environment – take specific action through local initiatives, including implementation of a sustainable education programme
- Use our influence to leverage funds and support for communities
- Inform and involve stakeholders to raise awareness of our impact on the communities in which we operate.
Specific projects will include:
- Continued dialogue with our local residents around the issue of future growth at the airport
- The second phase of the consultation on Heathrow Airtrack
- A second year of the BAA Heathrow Internship Programme, this year opening the programme to students who have taken part in BAA’s Fulcrum challenges in 2005 and 2006
- A BAA Fulcrum challenge to India in July 2008
- Introduction of BAA Community and Environment Awards
- Matched funding and project management support for the Crane Valley Partnership bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
