Community investment

We will continue to focus on supporting initiatives that make a positive difference to local communities under the following four strategies:

  • Education and skills – build existing and future workforce through vocational training and skills programmes
  • Environment – take specific action through local initiatives, including implementation of a sustainable education programme
  • Use our influence to leverage funds and support for communities
  • Inform and involve stakeholders to raise awareness of our impact on the communities in which we operate.

Specific projects will include:

  • Continued dialogue with our local residents around the issue of future growth at the airport
  • The second phase of the consultation on Heathrow Airtrack
  • A second year of the BAA Heathrow Internship Programme, this year opening the programme to students who have taken part in BAA’s Fulcrum challenges in 2005 and 2006
  • A BAA Fulcrum challenge to India in July 2008
  • Introduction of BAA Community and Environment Awards
  • Matched funding and project management support for the Crane Valley Partnership bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
