Water and land quality

We published our water action plan in January 2009. This action plan sets out how we will manage surface, foul and groundwater arising from or flowing beneath Heathrow Airport and how we will address water consumption  and flooding issues over a two year period from 2009-2010.

This action plan follows on from the BAA Heathrow Water Quality Strategy and Action Plan, which covered the five-year period 2003-2008. Summary progress updates will be produced via our annual Corporate Responsibility Reports. We have also reviewed our achievements and learning from our first Water Quality Action Plan (covering the period 2003-2008) to ensure that we build on the good progress and learnings that we have made to date.'

In addition to this we will continue to:

  • Secure the protection of the environment and regulatory compliance in al aspects of water quality management
  • Improve our strategies for the management of water quality.
