Engaging with stakeholders

Consultation is key part of our approach and at Heathrow we engage with a cross section of representatives from local communities, councils, residents associations and interest groups. A number of formal consultation forums exist to achieve this.

The largest consultation forum is the Heathrow Airport Consultative Committee (HACC) which meets every two months and represents local authorities, the aviation and travel industry, pressure groups, trades unions and DfT. It has various sub-committees, which look in detail at various aspects of the airport’s work. More information can be found at  www.hacc.org.uk

The Local Focus Forum is another group with which we consult regularly. The group represents residents’ associations and councillors closest to the airport. We share with them information about pending developments, operational impacts that might have an impact on the local area, and progress of  Terminal 5.  Information about the Local Focus Forum can be found at www.baa.com/T5community

In addition to these formal consulation forums, we engage with local stakeholders through a variety of other methods

  • Heathrow Inform – a community newsletter sent quarterly to over 17,000 local residents. An on-line version is available at www.heathrowairport.com/inform
  • Meetings with local MPs and councillors. We also attended all of the main party political conferences
  • Ad-hoc local resident meetings
  • T5 community hotline – for issues and concerns relating to the construction of Terminal 5
