Consultation

Heathrow's important role in the economic, social and environmental development of the region means that many diverse voices are involved in discussions on the airport's operation.

We regularly meet representatives from local communities, councils, residents and interest groups to discuss a variety of airport issues through a variety of channels.

Heathrow Airport Consultative Committee (HACC) is made up of local councils, environmental groups, the aviation industry, business community and passengers. The committee meets six times a year to discuss airport policy and operations, with sub-committees discussing various specific topics.

The contact details for HACC are included on passenger feedback cards which are available throughout the airport. Complaints sent to HACC in this way are first referred to us for investigation and response. If the complainant is not satisfied with the response, the matter can be referred to the Passenger Services Sub-Committee for further consideration.

The noise and track-keeping (NTK) working group brings together representatives from the Department for Transport (DfT), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), British Airways, BAA Heathrow and local authorities. The group discusses a wide range of noise and track-keeping issues and monitors track-keeping performance, night engine testing and ground noise complaints.

Local Focus Forums are held six times a year giving local resident associations and ward councillors an opportunity to discuss issues relating to Heathrow with airport directors.

We have an ongoing programme of briefings for locally elected politicans, councillors and MPs.
