Christmas markets 2009
Europe's Christmas markets are a great way to combine your gift-buying with a relaxing city break and a large dose of festive spirit. Now is the time to book if you don’t want to miss out – here are just a few ideas for your trip.
BrugesAt Christmas medieval Bruges, with its cobbled streets, historic buildings and horses and carts, is a beautiful location. The Christmas market on the main square forms a ring around an open-air ice rink. The market is open every day from 24th November to 31st December.
PragueChristmas markets are a key ingredient of the Czech festive magic, lighting up the city centre in a true winter wonderland setting. The markets run daily throughout December.
MunichMunich's Christmas market, or Christkindlmarkt, is at Marienplatz in the heart of the Old Town. Famous for gingerbread, manger figurines and 'chimney sweeps' made of plums and almonds. The market is open daily from 25th November to 24th December.
Homecoming Scotland Don't miss the grand finale
Homecoming Scotland 2009 is a celebration of Scottish culture, innovation and heritage, inspired by the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scotland's poet bard, Robert Burns.
