Night noise insulation scheme
In December 2007 we implemented a new residential noise insulation scheme intended to mitigate against the impacts of night flights.
The scheme will cover approx. 41,000 homes around Heathrow and will provide noise insulation for bedrooms or bed-sitting rooms.
The scheme has been introduced following the Government’s conclusions for the night flights regime, announced in June 2006. It is designed to help address the impacts of night flights on local communities around Heathrow. The boundary of the scheme is based on the noise footprint of the noisiest aircraft regularly operating in the night quota period (i.e. between 23:00 - 06.00).
We will be inviting all eligible homeowners to take part in the scheme within the next 5 years. The scheme will be introduced in geographical phases focusing on those areas closest to Heathrow first and working out.
