Between a holding stack and airport

Living or working between a holding stack and the airport and hearing planes heading for the final approach

It is more common for people who live between a holding stack and the airport to hear the noise of planes as they leave the holding stack and then head for the final approach.

Any reduction in height, without a reduction in power, will mean more noise on the ground, because the aircraft is closer.

As we mentioned earlier, there are no set routes or heights for planes when they come in to land, because Air Traffic Control directs each one individually from the stack and into the airport.

Air Traffic Control operate on a case by case basis to ensure high levels of safety and efficiency. This way of doing things means that people who live between a holding stack and the airport may or may not hear noise.
