Managing corporate responsibility

BAA’s corporate responsibility policy provides the overall framework for our approach at Heathrow. This is then supported by more detailed strategies and policies which provide guidance in specific areas from air quality and noise to health and safety to bullying and harassment.

Mangement systems
We operate a ‘Managing Responsibly’ system which encompasses health, safety, security and environment. This provides our staff with information and guidance to manage these issues and set performance improvement targets.  The system is well understood and recognised amongst our staff. It’s a comprehensive approach to risk management which includes established inspection and audit cycles.

Competency and training
The high level of competency and knowledge that our staff have is paramount in ensuring that we continue to improve our performance, and is a key element of the ‘Managing responsibly’ system. We have continued to develop our in-house courses on security, health, safety, and environmental issues. Feedback from delegates has been used to regularly up date existing courses and create new ones.
