Explore the Grand Palace

The magnificent Grand Palace is one of the most striking places to visit in Brussels. No matter how many times you visit it, its splendor and beauty will always take your breath away. The Grand Palace dates back almost 300 years and its architectural presence is one of the centre points of the city.

Various events, markets, and art installations are held at the Grand Palace at specific times of the year, so you may be lucky enough to catch one during your visit. The Brussels City Museum and the Town Hall, both located on the main square, are also worth a visit.

After you’ve had a little wander around the Grand Palace and taken in as much as possible, you can stroll over to the iconic Manneken Pis (about a two-minute walk) and visit another famous sight in Brussels.

Take a selfie with Manneken Pis

If this is your first visit to Brussels, then visiting this little guy is an absolute must. The small, tinkling man stands proudly and is a fun stop on your tour of the city.

You don’t need a huge amount of time at Manneken Pis, and it is an ideal place to go if you’re coming from the Grand Palace. You can take a few shots of the statue and even get a couple of selfies with the little guy.

Manneken Pis is dressed up at certain times, so you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the little man in various costumes for a bit of extra fun and laughs during your visit.

Wonder around the Atomium

If you’re willing to venture a little outside of the city centre, then the Atomium is a spot to visit during your travels. It was built back in the 1950s and is something completely unique and different compared to the other major sights in Brussels.

It stands over 100 meters tall and is a great place to see some spectacular views of the city. You can enjoy those views from the Atomium Restaurant, which is situated in one of the spheres.

It is a bit more expensive than other Brussels restaurants, but worth it for the unique dining experience. Make sure to book Atomium tickets in advance to avoid queuing at the ticket office during peak visiting times.

Brussels is home to some of the best-tasting chocolate in Europe, so visiting the city is incomplete without indulging in delectable waffles and irresistible chocolate that’ll leave your taste buds feeling like they’re on cloud 9.

Some of the top waffle places are Maison Dandoy, the Waffle Factory, and Mokafe. Don’t hold back on the toppings, either. The combinations of different flavours will have you salivating with each bite.

The best chocolatiers to visit in Brussels are Maison Pierre Marcolini, Wittamer or Côte d’Or. You mustn’t forget to pay a visit to the home of Godiva, too, and see where it all started. Taking some chocolate home will help you have a constant taste of Brussels, even long after your visit.
