Shaping Heathrow's north west runway proposal
In December 2013 the Airports Commission, an independent body set up by the Government, included Heathrow on its shortlist of options for additional runway capacity in the UK.
Of the three proposals Heathrow Airport submitted, our option for a runway to the north west of Heathrow is the one that's been shortlisted for the further detailed consideration.
There's still much work to do to refine our proposal before the Commission makes its final recommendation to Government in 2015. As part of this work, between 3 February and 16 March 2014 we have been consulting with those residents and the businesses likely to be most affected. The consultation is now closed.
We have really welcomed this opportunity to hear people’s thoughts on the future of Heathrow and enjoyed meeting so many local residents at the exhibition events we have been holding across the local area. Your views will directly influence how we shape our proposal for a new runway at Heathrow.
We will be submitting our updated proposal to the Airports Commission by 9 May 2014 and, although this consultation period concluded on March 16th, there will be plenty of further opportunities for you to have your say on the future of Heathrow. We will be continuing to engage with local residents and businesses throughout this process and will remain out and about within the local community.
