Operational Freedoms trial
A trial is being undertaken at Heathrow to explore whether the use of certain procedures can help cut delays and reduce the number of late running flights. Phase 1 of the trial ran between 1 November 2011 and 29 February 2012. The second phase has now been confirmed and will begin on 1 July 2012.
The trial is a recommendation of the Government's South East Airport Taskforce which was set up in 2010.
This trial does not mean an increase in the number of flights operating into or out of Heathrow.
